The Community Narrative project is an outgrowth of history classes at Gavilan College, in Gilroy, California. The idea is to capture as many voices as possible and make them available to others. This dialogue began in a community with a large Mexican-American population, nevertheless, we are seeking partners to expand the conversation.
Humanizing Pedagogy is our underlining theoretical framework; this is meant to convey an educational process that recognizes and values each person's voice. As an organizing question, this project asks if we can create an inclusive community by allowing ourselves to speak honestly, and try as much as possible to hear what others are trying to say?
